The purpose of this scholarship is for the Department of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) to provide funding and support to newly admitted graduate students whose admission is highly evaluated by the department.
This scholarship is available to both domestic and international students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Alberta. This incentive covers tuition and other costs for successful applicants.
University of Alberta Entrance Scholarship Requirements 2024
- To be eligible for the University of Alberta Entrance Scholarship, you must meet the following conditions:
- Must be a newly admitted student in either the school’s master’s or doctoral program.
- Open to domestic and international students
- Open to course-based or dissertation-based students
- Must have an entry point average of 3.7 or higher
- Must be enrolled full-time during the period of the award
- Duration of this award is September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2025, regardless of the student’s admission deadline:

- Scholarship Value: $17,500 Master’s Program. $21,000 doctoral dissertation. To receive this award, students must have a Canadian bank account and address.
- Tuition and Fees: Domestic students receive an additional $7,100 and international students receive an additional $10,000 to cover fees.
- Funds are deposited directly into the student’s tuition and fees account.
